The University of Applied Sciences Velika Gorica is organizing the 3rd Optometry Conference of Central and South-eastern Europe.
The Conference will take place in Split, Croatia, from 14 - 16 April 2016 at the Hotel Radisson Blu Resort.
The 1st Optometry Conference of Central and South-Eastern Europe was held in 2012, gathering 424 participants from 19 countries of Europe. It was for the first time in Europe that the experts in the field of eye optics, optometry and ophthalmology gathered at one place.
The 2nd equally successful Optometric Conference was held in 2014 and it further developed the continuity of life-long learning in the field of optics and optometry. There were 378 participants from 20 countries gathered at the 2nd Optometry Conference of Central and South-eastern Europe held from 29 May till 1 June 2014 in Rovinj, at the beautiful Lone hotel. The second Conference in the field of optometry confirmed the large interest shown for this new profession in the region. The Conference was organized by the University of Applied Sciences Velika Gorica, the only higher education institution in the Republic of Croatia that provides the study of optometry. The contents of the Conference were even richer and more notable than the first OCCSEE Conference in 2012. Hotel Lone provided premises for 14 different workshops, over 30 lectures, some 80 works, round table on the topic of legislation,education and competences in the area of optometric profession. The Conference was held under the auspices of the Croatian President – Mr. Ivo Josipović, and with support of the European Council of Eye opticians and Optometrists, and with financial support of foreign and domestic sponsors and exhibitors. The Platinum Sponsor ESSILOR, Ltd., the Golden Sponsor Alcon&Splendor, Bronze sponsors E-Lab, Oktal Pharma, Johnson&Johnson, Optinova&Zeiss and numerous exhibitors and partners gave strong support to the organization of the OCCSEE 2014 Conference .
OCCSEE 2016 will continue with the good practice learned at the previous Conference in order to strengthen further the cooperation of all the stakeholders from the profession of optometry in Croatia and the region of Central and South-Eastern Europe.
The Hotel Radisson Blu Resort was selected in order to make it possible to provide accommodation to 400 to 600 participants who are expected to take part in the next OCCSEE 2016. The Hotel Radisson Blu Resort will provide premises for organizing lectures from 5 fields of topics of eye optics, optometry and ophthalmology and the organization of over ten different workshops that will take place during the three days of the Conference with at least double repetition of each of the workshops
The OCCSEE Project has great importance for further development of the profession of optics and optometry in the region of Central and South-Eastern Europe. By organizing the international scientific Conference OCCSEE 2012 and OCCSSE 2014 the University of Applied Sciences Velika Gorica has ranked very high along with the European eminent institutions thus enabling continuous transfer of knowledge from the most developed European countries. Those who had the largest benefits from this knowledge transfer are the Conference participants – opticians, optometrists, ophthalmologists, students as future optometrists and the entrepreneurs and companies in their important role as logistic supporters of the profession of optometry and eye optics.
The 3rd Optometry Conference of Central and South-Eastern Europe will provide support to a large number of foreign partners by networking the interested parties for the OCCSEE 2016 programme.
OCCSEE 2016 will gather lecturers and participants from more than twenty countries of Central and South-Eastern Europe.
